Flat Battery? Here’s How We Get You Moving Again
A flat battery is one of the most common breakdown call-outs we attend across Nottingham — and often one of the quickest to fix. Here’s what to expect if you call us out for a flat or failing battery.
Signs your battery is the problem
- The engine cranks slowly or makes a clicking sound but won’t start
- Dashboard lights are dim or flicker when you turn the key
- Interior lights, radio or other electrics seem weak or unresponsive
- The car started fine yesterday but won’t today, especially after cold weather
What we do on arrival
Our technician will safely connect a jump pack or jump leads to your battery and attempt a jump start. In most cases, this gets the engine running again within a few minutes. We’ll also do a quick visual check of your battery terminals and connections while we’re there.
When a jump start isn’t enough
Sometimes a battery is too far gone to hold a charge, or the fault lies elsewhere in the electrical system (alternator, starter motor). If a jump start doesn’t resolve it, we can recover your vehicle to a garage of your choice, your home, or arrange onward transport — all part of the same call-out.
Preventing flat batteries
- Batteries typically last 3–5 years — have it tested if yours is older than this
- Short journeys don’t fully recharge a battery; an occasional longer drive helps
- Cold weather is the most common trigger for flat batteries in Nottingham — have your battery checked before winter
